Stanbic Bank Tanzania is a prominent financial institution in Tanzania, part of the larger Standard Bank Group, which is Africa’s largest banking group by assets. A key focus of Stanbic Bank Tanzania is to support economic development in the country, providing financial solutions that help individuals, businesses, and communities thrive. The bank has consistently worked to introduce innovative banking products and services, with a strong emphasis on digital banking.

Stanbic Tanzania was on a mission to embed its 5 value drivers into the hearts and minds of its employees, but it needed an innovative approach to make it stick. They wanted something engaging, something that would bring the values to life and get employees excited about them.

WHAT WE DID

We created a dual-device game. The game was simple yet thrilling. Employees were divided into teams, each eager to represent their department. The objective was straightforward: answer a question correctly, then take a shot at hitting a football. Each successful strike contributed to the team’s score, making it not just a quiz, but a fun, competitive experience that united everyone.

The atmosphere was electric. Employees at the head office jumped into the game with enthusiasm, and it didn’t take long before the game became a regular part of the workday. Over 500 times the game was played, with teams vying for the top spot, cheering each other on, and relishing in the team spirit it fostered.

But it wasn’t just about the fun and competition. The real success was in how the game helped reinforce the 5 value drivers. As the game went on, employees started to recall and connect with these values on a deeper level. They weren’t just memorizing words—they were living them, every time they answered a question and took that shot at the football.
